Detailed 3-Day Karisimbi & Bisoke Climbing Tour Itinerary
This 3-day Karisimbi and Bisoke hiking tour is one of the best Rwanda safari packages for mountaineers. Mount Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke are very nice mountains to climb.
They are the most climbed apparently and offer some of the best views of the rest of the Virunga Massif. Please note that these two mountains are located in Volcanoes National Park, the same place where Rwanda gorillas are found.

Below is how this 3-day Karisimbi and Bisoke hiking tour will take place. Please note that you reserve the right to request any modifications to this package. We are always open to your suggestions.
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Ascend Mount Karisimbi
You need to be at the park headquarters by 7:30 am for the morning meeting, which implies departing Kigali at least 2 hours earlier. It’s better to spend the night in Musanze or in Volcanoes National Park if possible.
After the meeting, transfer to the starting point of your hike. Several porters are available to help carry your luggage for a small fee.
The start of the hike is an easy walk but becomes more challenging as you progress. You will camp at a site situated at an altitude of 3600m after a strenuous 6-hour climb.
From here, you will have a view of the summit.
Day 2: Reach the Summit and Descend
After breakfast, complete your hike to the summit, spend 30-40 minutes there, and then descend to the starting point. Your tour guide will be waiting for you there to transfer you back to your lodge to relax.
Day 3: Ascend and Descend Mount Bisoke
On the last day of your 3-day Rwanda hiking tour, enjoy a hearty breakfast and head to the park headquarters for another briefing meeting before hiking Mount Bisoke. Mount Bisoke is not difficult to ascend.
You will need approximately 4 hours to reach the summit with its crater lake and 2 hours to descend. The views of the crater are breathtaking, and you will enjoy them.
Spend roughly 30-40 minutes at the summit before returning to the starting point to catch your ride back to Kigali for departure.
