Gorilla Trekking & Wildebeest Migration Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Uganda, via Entebbe International Airport

Welcome to Uganda, where you will be met by our Company representative and assisted with your hotel transfer. The remainder of the day is spent at leisure, exploring the top historical sites on a city excursion.

Day 2: Road transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel in Kampala, meet your safari driver and fellow travelers before heading to the breathtaking Kibale Forest National Park. This park is home to endangered chimpanzees along with other primates, forest birds, reptiles, and numerous butterfly species.

Your highly knowledgeable driver-guide will provide information about tourist sites en route, stop in Fort Portal city for lunch, and continue to your reserved accommodation.

Day 3: Enjoy Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning, transfer to Kanyanchu Visitor Center to begin your trek to see the Great Apes in their natural habitat.

First, attend a briefing on the dos and don’ts of trekking these endangered creatures, then start the trek while identifying various animals and birds encountered along the way.

You will have up to one hour with the chimpanzees after finding them, then return to the lodge for lunch.

Afterward, leave the lodge and drive westward towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy views of the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Guided game drive through Kasenyi Plains and Kazinga Boat Cruise

After breakfast, board your safari vehicle for a game drive through the park’s Kasenyi Plains.

Spot nocturnal animals such as spotted hyenas, lions, leopards, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Defassa waterbucks, Cape buffaloes, elephants, hippos, warthogs, and numerous bird species during the guided game drive.

Return to the lodge for a short relaxation and lunch.

After lunch, head to the Mweya jetty to start the Kazinga Boat cruise, an integral part of Queen Elizabeth National Park tours.

Here, you will see hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, Uganda Kobs, buffaloes, and various water and wetland bird species.

Day 5: Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Depart Queen Elizabeth National Park after breakfast. The guided game drive southwards leads us to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an encounter with the mountain gorillas.

Make a stop at Ishasha sector for a brief game drive to see tree-climbing lions and another stop at Savannah Resort or Topi lodge for lunch. Enjoy a delicious meal and arrive in Bwindi in the evening for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Undertake mountain gorilla trekking and Cross the Ugandan border to Kigali

Today, explore the dense rainforest of Bwindi to see the endangered mountain gorillas, and you might also spot other mammals and birds endemic to the Albertine Rift.

Leave the lodge after breakfast and gather at the park headquarters for registration and orientation.

Start the trek at a slow pace while observing the park’s fascinating attractions. Despite panting and needing to catch your breath, this is a sign of something extraordinary.

Finally, meet the mountain gorillas after hours of trekking and spend a magical hour with them.

Depart for Rwanda (Kigali), stopping for lunch at the lodge, and arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Flight to Arusha, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and evening game drive

This morning, marvel at Rwanda’s rolling hills, from which the country earned its nickname, the “land of a thousand hills,” and then transfer to the airport for a flight to Arusha Airport.

Another safari driver will be waiting with a comfortable ride to transfer you to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Enjoy a delicious lunch at the lodge’s open restaurant or room balcony with views of the tourist site.

The remainder of the evening is free to explore the vast Savannah plains through a game drive or relax at the accommodation facility.

Day 8: Half-day game drive in Ngorongoro Conservation Area and drive to Serengeti National Park

Today, after breakfast, leave the lodge with a packed lunch to explore Ngorongoro Conservation Area on a game drive.

Drive through sweeping plains and descend into the Crater, teeming with wildlife including Cape buffaloes, black rhinos, African bush elephants, cheetahs, wildebeests, zebras, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, Defassa waterbucks, Kobs, Topis, gazelles, yellow baboons, Masai giraffes, impalas, hippos, and many others.

Enjoy a picnic lunch under the canopy of Acacia lahai before continuing to Serengeti National Park. Engage in a mini-game drive while heading to the lodge.

Day 9: Whole day Serengeti National Park game drive

Today, embark on a guided game drive through the expansive Serengeti National Park to observe the diverse animals and birds that call this park home.

Your 12 Days Uganda Primates Trekking & Wildebeest Migration safari guide will share important and interesting facts about the park’s history, flora, and fauna.

Look out for the Big Five—lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffaloes—Masai giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, Thompson gazelles, jackals, cheetahs, serval cats, caracals, and many other unique bird species.

You might be fortunate enough to witness the wildebeest migration. Your evening will be spent relaxing with beautiful views of the night sky from your accommodation.

Day 10: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya

From Serengeti National Park, embark on a journey to Masai Mara National Reserve via the Isebania border point. Clear immigration and continue with a game drive through Masai Mara en route to the lodge.

Day 11: Full-day Masai Mara National Reserve game drive

Today, after breakfast, immerse yourself in the splendor and tranquility of Masai Mara National Reserve.

Enjoy a guided game drive through its vast plains teeming with extraordinary wildlife species such as Masai giraffes, leopards, Cape buffaloes, impalas, lions, elephants, Thompson gazelles, cheetahs, and many others.

If timed right, you may witness the wildebeest migration alongside Thompson gazelles, zebras, and impalas in the Serengeti-Masai Mara ecosystem.

Enjoy a picnic lunch and in the evening, visit Masai villages to learn about their ancient way of life, captivating dances, delicious cuisine, and beautiful traditional homesteads.

Return to the lodge in the evening with unforgettable memories of the day’s activities.

Day 12: Departure

Embark on your final game drive in an open safari vehicle before returning to the accommodation for brunch. Upon check-out, be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight home.
